Meet Mio, WADSIH’s new Administration Lead
We’re pleased to welcome Mio Angela Gadon to the WADSIH team as our new Administration Lead. Mio is a Perth-based multidisciplinary artist, designer and arts worker originally from the Philippines.
October saw WADSIH take part in the biggest event of the year for us, The Indo-Pacific Robotics, Autonomy, AI and Cyber Conference (IPRAAC) 2025.
As the AI Power Partner, WADSIH curated and presented the artificial intelligence stream of the conference, which meant educating and surprising the attendees with sessions and demonstrations of the tools and technologies that will both change and enable the industries of tomorrow.
On stage talks and panels came courtesy of Australia’s first qualified female astronaut, Katherine Bennell-Pegg, representatives from Google Deepmind and many more. The audience learned about the ethical frameworks coming to AI and artificial general intelligence (AGI), with our director Alex Jenkins talking about how Australia can lead the way in AI with a coordinated program of sovereign capability.
Another standout was the WADSIH booth, which saw staff and board members interact with attendees and showcased exciting projects in the field in using existing camera networks for precise, AI-driven tracking, an AI-controlled robotic arm and more.
We also joined with longtime partner Corinium for 2025’s CDAO Conference, which bought leaders from across sectors to explore how data, analytics, and AI are shaping decision making in organisation and the enterprise.
Director Alex Jenkins moderated the opening day panel, CDAO Compass: Exploring the Biggest Challenges to Data Stewardship – People, Process, and Technology, which featured speakers from across the analytics fields. The discussion bought issues to light around topics like inconsistent data definitions and fragmented governance to cultural resistance and trust in AI and proposed several innovative solutions.
The sessions and panels throughout the CDAO Conference contained several common themes that are very much in WADSIH’s wheelhouse. Just one was how transparency and clear governance are going to let users and the community build trust in the technology, shifting from concepts around data ownership to custodianship or trusteeship, embedding accountability.
The Conference also heard about enhancing data quality and delivery timelines, and how the perceived failures of experimentation and testing are actually a critical piece of the puzzle.
We were also very glad to partner with the October event for Build Club’s Perth chapter. After helping inaugurate the Perth event series for Build Club, it’s great to see such a worthy initiative thrive and grow.
Coders, hobbyists and enthusiasts enjoyed live demos, workflow and project rundowns and pizza late into the night in a buzzy atmosphere of high energy and experimentation.
We’re looking forward to seeing the awesome tools and methodologies that emerge from Build Club in the future.

Our AI Program Coordinator, Beth Cusack has been recognised for her work delivering inclusive Gen-AI Bootcamps that help autistic young people build practical technology skills, confidence and a sense of belonging.
