We’re pleased to welcome Mio Angela Gadon to the WADSIH team as our new Administration Lead.
Mio is a Perth-based multidisciplinary artist, designer and arts worker originally from the Philippines. She is currently undertaking a Master of Arts (Fine Arts) at Curtin University, where she combines her background in graphic design and multimedia with contemporary art practices.
Her creative work explores environmental responsibility, migration, identity and community connection. Having lived for many years in Exmouth, Mio draws inspiration from the natural environment of Ningaloo Reef, as well as her experiences of migration, place and belonging.
Her current research transforms discarded glass collected from public spaces into sculptural works that encourage reflection on waste, sustainability and our shared environmental responsibilities.
Alongside her artistic practice, Mio works across the arts sector and recently co-curated Longing and Hope at John Curtin Gallery for National Reconciliation Week 2026. Developed with fellow Curtin Fine Art students, the exhibition explored the enduring creativity, resilience and connection to Country of the Carrolup child artists, while encouraging dialogue around truth-telling, shared history and reconciliation.
Mio was also a recipient of the 2023 Next Level Regional Grant. Her work is grounded in research, experimentation and meaningful community engagement.
