Meet Mio, WADSIH’s new Administration Lead
We’re pleased to welcome Mio Angela Gadon to the WADSIH team as our new Administration Lead. Mio is a Perth-based multidisciplinary artist, designer and arts worker originally from the Philippines.
Western Australia’s innovation ecosystem is set for a boost with applications now open for the Innovation Booster Grant (IBG) and Commercialisation Bridge Grant (CBG) programs.
Backed by the Cook Government’s $40 million New Industries and Innovation Fund (NIIF), these grants provide critical support for start-ups, SMEs, and high-growth enterprises to test, validate, protect, and commercialise their projects both locally and globally.
What’s New in 2025
The NIIF, administered by the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification, is a cornerstone of WA’s Innovation Strategy and plays a key role in building future industries and jobs. Established in 2017, the Fund fosters a self-sustaining innovation environment that encourages collaboration and private sector investment—helping diversify WA’s economy through Diversify WA.

Our AI Program Coordinator, Beth Cusack has been recognised for her work delivering inclusive Gen-AI Bootcamps that help autistic young people build practical technology skills, confidence and a sense of belonging. The program recently expanded to Geraldton, where students explored generative AI, robotics, coding and virtual reality through hands-on projects.
