WADSIH is proud to announce our next Hackathon addressing disaster and emergency management, the AFAC Hackathon. Created alongside long term partner, The Department of Fire and Emergency Services, and held as part of the AFAC25 conference from the Australasian Fire & Emergency Service Authorities Council, the event will kick off with a difference as we invite participants to take part in a Reverse Pitch event on June 5.
The AFAC25 Emergency Management Hackathon is being run differently to a normal WADSIH Hackathon. For the first time WADSIH and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services are inviting participants to solve the Challenge they want to focus on.
At the Reverse Pitch event on the 5 June 2025 (details below), challenge owners from DFES will talk openly about areas and opportunities they have identified that need improvement. We are then inviting any interested parties to propose how to resolve these opportunities by filling out an Expression of Interest form. The teams behind the best entires will then be invited to participate at the AFAC25 Hackathon.
The Reverse Pitch is intended to give local entrepreneurs and innovators a chance to see if tech they have already developed could be the solution for a critical problem the emergency management sector is facing. It might also be the spark you need to inspire a solution you can hack together with your fellow team members.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from experts, ask questions, and start forming your team ahead of the Hackathon week.
