Transforming Public Safety in WA through Innovation & Collaboration
The recent Western Australia Police Force x WADSIH Hackathon 2024 was a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in addressing critical public safety challenges.
We joined 73 West Australian organisations – 110 delegates – on this multi-sector mission, led by the Deputy Premier Roger Cook. This was the WA Government’s largest trade delegation to India, with the aim of the mission to strengthen government and industry connections, unlock opportunities for WA in the Indian market, and promote our state as a destination for tourists, students, business and investment.
It was a whirlwhind tour, with stops in Delhi, Mumbai, Vishakapatnam and Chennai. We made some amazing connections and had many meaningful conversations. We were able to gain a better understanding of the Indian innovation ecosystem and were blown away by the progress India has made in this area.
We had great meetings with the Digital India Foundation, Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research, LinkedIn and the iTNT Hub. And also had the opportunity to visit HLC Technologies, IIT Madras and the AMTZ.
We were also thrilled to connect with so many incredible WA businesses who shared our vision for WA, and we look forward to collaborating with them back on home soil.
We’re very much looking forward to progressing ideas and plans to strengthen the data science innovation sector across WA and India, and further facilitating knowledge sharing across our nations.

The 2023 WA Health Hackathon demonstrated the immense potential that emerges when innovative minds collaborate with cutting-edge technology to address pressing challenges in the healthcare sector.
A cornerstone of this year’s Hackathon is the pioneering introduction of synthetic data. Using these data sets offers the best of both worlds: replicating real-world trends without risking genuine patient or system data.
We would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the traditional owners of the land on which the WADSIH office is located, the Whadjuk people of the Nyungar Nation.
