WADSIH Director Alex Jenkins will join an expert panel at the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) WA Annual Scientific Meeting, taking place in Bentley on 7 August 2026.

The annual meeting provides an opportunity for students and early and mid-career researchers from across Western Australia to present their work, exchange knowledge and build relationships within the medical research community.

This year’s panel discussion will focus on artificial intelligence in medical and health technologies, exploring the opportunities, challenges and considerations surrounding the use of AI across research, healthcare and education.

Alex will draw on his experience leading AI capability-building initiatives and share insights from WADSIH’s work, including programs such as AI Lift Off. The discussion will consider how AI is already being applied, its potential to change the way people learn and work, and what is needed to translate emerging technologies into meaningful real-world outcomes.

Following brief presentations from each panellist, attendees will have the opportunity to contribute questions and take part in an interactive discussion.

The event is relevant for students, researchers, healthcare professionals, technology specialists and others interested in the future of medical research and health innovation.
